Family Folder users can now archive files and folders instead of deleting them. If you're done with a document but think you might need it again don't delete it, archive it and have it there for next time.
Hope it helps!
Users now have the ability to edit calendar events which is handy πŸ˜ƒ
In the Family Folder web app and mobile app you can now choose to create a folder from a template. The first template that has been added to Family Folder is "Next of Kin". When you create this folder you get 12 sub-folders:
1. Personal Identity πŸͺͺ
Passport, driving licence, birth certificate, national ID, marriage and divorce certificates, citizenship paperwork. Anything proving who you are. Scans and photos are fine β€” the originals can stay in a safe.
2. Financial Accounts πŸ’°
Bank account details, savings, ISAs, pensions, investments, crypto wallets. List the institution, account type and account number β€” never the password. A simple "this is what exists and where" is what your family needs.
3. Property & Home 🏠
Title deeds, mortgage paperwork, tenancy agreements, utility account numbers, broadband contract, council tax reference. The boring stuff that becomes urgent the moment a bill stops being paid.
4. Vehicles πŸš—
V5C log books, insurance policies, MOT history, finance agreements, breakdown cover, keys-coded paperwork. One folder per vehicle if you have several.
5. Legal & Estate βš–οΈ
Will, codicils, lasting power of attorney, advance decisions, your solicitor's contact details, any trusts. This is the folder that matters most if you become unwell or pass away β€” make sure your executor knows it exists.
6. Medical & Health 🩺
NHS number, GP details, repeat prescriptions, allergies, vaccination records, consultant letters, organ donor wishes. Hugely useful in an A&E waiting room.
7. Insurance πŸ›‘οΈ
Life insurance, critical illness cover, income protection, home insurance, contents, travel, pet insurance. Policy numbers and the insurer's contact phone number are the two things people actually ask for.
8. Digital & Online πŸ’»
A list of important online accounts β€” email, cloud storage, social media, domain names, subscriptions. Don't store passwords here. Use a password manager and tell your executor how to access that, not every individual login.
9. Family & Contacts πŸ‘¨β€πŸ‘©β€πŸ‘§β€πŸ‘¦
The people your family will need to call: closest relatives, your employer, accountant, financial adviser, solicitor, funeral director if pre-arranged. A short contact list saves hours at the worst possible moment.
10. Pets 🐾
Vet details, microchip numbers, insurance, medication, feeding routine, who has agreed to take them if you can't. Pets are the thing families forget to plan for β€” and the thing that causes the most acute panic.
11. Final Wishes πŸ•ŠοΈ
Funeral preferences, burial vs cremation, music, readings, who to invite, charitable donations, anything you want said. This is for them as much as for you β€” it removes a hundred small decisions at a time when no one wants to make them.
12. Access & Security πŸ”
Where the master password is stored, who knows the safe combination, where physical keys live, instructions for accessing this folder itself. The "how to actually use everything above" folder.
The ability to drag and drop files has now been added to the Family Folder web app. You can now mouse click on a file name and drag and drop it to a new folder, as long as you have access to that folder. If you drag and drop to the wrong location there is also an Undo link in the success pop-up. I hope this helps!
